Aphid Alert at the U of M
Welcome to the new home of Aphid Alert!
If you are reading this you have discovered the new home of Aphid Alert. We hope this site will allow us to provide more information for growers and will be easier to find. Past editions of Aphid Alert can still be found here.
This year we are expanding our trapping network by four sites. We extend to the west with a trap in Williston, ND and three more traps in the Red River Valley to increase the resolution in this area.
Additionally, we will have four sites dedicated to monitoring flights of sugarbeet root aphid (Pemphigus betae). These traps will be placed next to sugarbeet fields and will bring our total trap count to 24 traps!
You can find the trap location closest to you by clicking the PVY or Sugarbeet Root Aphid tabs above. This site is still under development so check back often for new content!
This site is made possible with the support of the Northern Plains Potato Growers Association, the MN Area II Potato Growers Council, the Sugarbeet Research & Education Board of Minnesota and North Dakota, and the USDA-NIFA eIPM Program.
